Matt Smith says he’s enjoyed building a midfield partnership with John Bostock in recent weeks.
Smith has started the past three games alongside the January recruit, and feels his experience has added significant quality to the team.
He said: “It’s been really good playing alongside him, he’s got great ability and off the pitch he’s a good voice in the dressing room.
“It’s not easy to come into a team midway through the season but I’ve been impressed with the way he’s come in and made an impact.
“He speaks a lot with the younger lads and he knows what it takes to forge a good career so we’re all enjoying learning from him.”
Rovers travel to Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night, and Smith is keen to avenge for the defeat against the Railwaymen back in October.
He added: “They are a difficult team to play against, I felt we were a bit disappointed when we lost to them at home because the game passed us by.
“We need to show a better account of ourselves at their place and carry on the positive momentum that we’ve built.”
