Butler: beaten by a good side

5 May 2021

Andy Butler felt Rovers were beaten by a strong side after the 2-0 defeat at Blackpool in Sky Bet League One.

A goal in either half from Ellis Simms secured three points for the Seasiders, in Rovers’ final away game of the 2020/21 campaign.

He said: “We came up against a well organised side who are third in the league on merit and pushing for promotion through the play-offs.

“They’ve got a really good forward line and myself and Tom were busy all night, it’s just disappointing to concede the goals we did.

“We haven’t kept enough clean sheets and individual mistakes throughout the campaign have cost us which is something to reflect on.”

With just one league game remaining, Butler says it has been a unique one for plenty of different reasons.

He added: "It’s been tough mentally this season with the fixture congestion, it’s not been a normal campaign and players have had to adapt to that.

“Having said that it’s been the same for everyone, some teams have dealt with it better than others.”
