Butler wants to build on recent form

4 May 2021

Andy Butler wants his side to carry on the momentum gained from their past two away league games when they travel to Blackpool on Tuesday night.

Rovers are looking to make it three unbeaten on the road after following up a point at Peterborough United with a win at Rochdale last time out.

Butler said: “We’re looking for the boys to finish the season with some positive performances against two really good teams.

“Everyone is disappointed that we haven’t made the play-offs, so all we can do now is give a good account of ourselves in the games we have left.

“We seem to have played with some freedom in the past couple of games, so we want to carry that on.”

The Seasiders themselves need a point from their two remaining fixtures to secure a play-off place, and Butler has been impressed with the job done at Bloomfield Road.

He added: “Blackpool are a good side, they’ve done really well since Christmas to put themselves in a position where they are almost secure in the top six.

“Jerry Yates has scored a lot of goals and we go about stopping him like we would against any good player we face.

“It was an entertaining game the last time we played them, we’re going there looking for a result after a good win at the weekend.”
