Jones frustrated with defeat

5 May 2021

Louis Jones was frustrated to come away empty handed after Rovers were beaten 2-0 by Blackpool in Sky Bet League One.

The Rovers keeper pulled off a number of saves to keep his side in the game, but could do nothing about Ellis Simms’ double for the Seasiders.

He said: “It was a difficult night for us, they created a lot of chances and I feel quite unlucky with both goals but it is what it is.

“I knew I had to be ready so I tried to get out quickly for the first, I got a touch to it but the bounce of the ball took it in.

“I was frustrated with the second because I’d made the save, but the rebound came back off him and that’s just how it goes.”

After coming back into the team in recent weeks, Jones believes a brief spell out of it gave him time to reflect and improve his game.

He added: “It’s always good to play games and I probably benefitted from being taken back out the team so I could reflect on things.

“It gave me the hunger once I got back in the side to keep improving and showing what I can do regularly.”
