Club Doncaster and official partner Sovereign Wealth have worked together to help a young footballer who has been diagnosed with cancer.
Joe Tolliday, who plays for Finningley Harriers U15s, has started chemotherapy, and to help raise money for him and his family during the difficult time, staff and players are undertaking a 15mile sponsored walk, and a penalty shootout.
To help raise money, official partner, Sovereign Wealth have donated a signed Doncaster Rovers shirt, and director Callum Aveling was to hand it over along with a surprise visit from Rovers’ Andy Butler.
Head coach, Richard Taylor said: “I was so touched by how kind and genuinely interested in Joe everyone was. To get Andy Butler there to show his support was amazing, he genuinely cared about the story and we are so grateful to the club and to Callum at Sovereign Wealth for donating the shirt. It’s all been very humbling.”
Callum added: “Joe’s story really touched us all and I couldn’t think of a better way to use the signed shirt we get as part of our partnership.”
On Sunday May 16, Finningley Harriers are undertaking a 15-mile walk which will end at the Keepmoat Stadium. The walk follows a sponsored penalty shootout on Saturday with any player who scores from the spot going into draw to win the Rovers signed shirt donated by Sovereign Wealth.
A just giving page has been created for Joe, for anyone who would like to show their support. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/joetoll
