Seaman pleased to have future sorted

4 May 2021

Charlie Seaman says he’s pleased to have his future sorted after agreeing a new two-year deal with Rovers.

The full-back joined Rovers last summer after an impressive trial period with the club, and spent the majority of his first season with the club on loan at National League South side Maidstone United.

He said: “It’s nice to know that I’m here for the next two seasons and I can use the off season to get myself ready for the new campaign.

“I needed the loan spell for my confidence levels so I enjoyed it, it ended earlier than planned but it’s set me up to come back here and do well.

“I can look ahead to pre-season and not worry about a move, I’m really looking forward to getting my head down and working hard.”

Although FA and EFL loan rules prevented him from making his Rovers debut once he’d returned to the club, Seaman has enjoyed being back around the squad and developing his game in training.

He added: “It’s been a frustrating period for me coming back here and not being able to play, but I’ve spent that time getting to know the people here and the area I’m living in.

“I can’t play but I’ve been training with the lads and I feel like that has already improved me as a player.

“There are a few new boys that weren’t here when I came in last summer so it’s been good to get to know them as well.”
