Aidan Barlow spoke to the media ahead of the Papa John’s Trophy tie at Crewe Alexandra on Wednesday night.
The two clubs meet in the second round of the competition at the Mornflake Stadium having drawn 1-1 in Sky Bet League One earlier in November.
On working his way back into the team:
“It was hard being injured and having to work my way back into the team but now I’ve done that I know I have to perform.
“I’ve tried to impact games as much as I could, the results haven’t gone well recently but we have to keep going.
“I feel the wide left position suits me because I can get into pockets of space and run at the opposition.
“I do need to score more goals and get more assists, but I think that comes from playing games and gaining experience.”
On the Papa John’s Trophy:
“It’s a chance for everyone to impress and it’s a competition that is important to the club.
“We want to do well in it and we’re at the stage now where one defeat puts you out so we don’t want to miss out.
“It’s potentially a few games from Wembley which is a massive incentive for any player in the dressing room.”
