Carl Boyeson will be the referee when Rovers travel to Scunthorpe United in the Emirates FA Cup first round on Saturday.
This is the second time Boyeson has taken charge of a Rovers match this season – he was the man in the middle when Richie Wellens’ men hosted Portsmouth at the Keepmoat Stadium.
That game ended in a 0-0 draw after Tommy Rowe’s goal was disallowed for a foul in the build-up.
You have to go all the way back to February 2020 for the last time the man from East Yorkshire took charge of a Scunthorpe match. That was a 1-0 home win against Forest Green Rovers for the Iron.
Saturday will mark Boyeson’s 24th time overseeing a Rovers match and his tenth match in this campaign. So far this season, he has handed out 24 yellow cards including cards for Kyle Knoyle and John Bostock against Portsmouth. He is yet to issue a red card in the 2021/22 campaign.
On Saturday, he will be assisted by Wayne Grunnill and Kenwyn Hughes. The fourth official will be Anthony Moore.
