Paul Gerrard leaves Rovers

30 November 2021

Rovers can confirm that goalkeeping coach Paul Gerrard has left the club by mutual agreement.

The 48-year-old departs having been with Rovers since the summer of 2013, in which time he has worked with seven different managers.

Gerrard has overseen the improvement of several goalkeepers during his time with the club, including Louis Jones who made his first-team breakthrough last season and now has 22 appearances to his name.

He also played a key role in the development of loanees Sam Johnstone and Seny Dieng, with the pair going on to become full internationals with England and Senegal respectively.

He leaves the goalkeeping department in a strong position, with a clear pathway in place for young keepers to progress through from the Doncaster Rovers Training Centre, to the Academy and eventually the first-team.

Everyone at the club would like to thank Paul for his efforts while with Rovers, and wish him well in the future.
