Wellens: it's a big game for both sides

2 November 2021

Richie Wellens spoke to the media ahead of Tuesday night’s trip to Crewe Alexandra in Sky Bet League One.

Rovers go in search of their first win on the road this season at the Mornflake Stadium.

On a big game for both teams:

“It’s too early to be the biggest game of the season but it is important given where the two teams are in the table.

“A win for us would be massive and to go six points clear of them would be good ahead of a bit of a gap in league games.

“We want to have a lot more intensity in our play, and the players have got to take responsibility when they step out on the pitch.”

On putting Saturday’s result behind them:

“We need to adapt to our bad moments better, and enjoy what we do without the ball in terms of our defending.

“I was as frustrated and as angry as anyone with the performance at the weekend, you can lose in football but that wasn’t the way to lose.

“We’re going there to win and try to put some breathing space between ourselves and Crewe, they’re on a tricky run themselves.”
