Richie Wellens spoke to the media following the 3-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers in Sky Bet League One.
Goals from Eoin Doyle, Elias Kachunga and George Thomason left Rovers empty handed after Joseph Olowu’s first-half red card at the University of Bolton Stadium.
On how his side started the game:
“For 36 minutes I thought we were the better team in and out of possession, Jon Taylor had a great chance to put us in front.
“We won the ball back high a few times and if the last pass is right we’re in on goal again.
“We were full of energy and passion with the way we played, but the red card kills the game.”
On how his team faired with 10 men:
“There were a lot of young players in our side that had to dig in and show character to not let the scoreline get even further away from us.
“Bolton had a couple of chances later on in the game but that’s always going to happen with the space on the pitch.
“It’s our second defeat in seven and if we continue performing like we did with 11 men then we’ll pick up more results.”
