Anderson: a point in the right direction

27 October 2021

Tom Anderson spoke to the media after Rovers drew 1-1 with Cambridge United at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Despite being frustrated not to win the game, the skipper was pleased to have another point on the board in Sky Bet League One.

On breaking down a stubborn Cambridge side:

“I think once we’d got past the first 10 minutes we dominated the game, we just forced a few passes at times.

“Cambridge came and sat quite deep, they are an organised team and I think we’ve done well to find a goal to get back in it.

“We’ve shown our character and despite conceding early there was no doubt within the group that we would come back.

“In football it doesn’t always go your way but we stayed in the game and stuck to our principles.”

On the team handling pressure:

“We’ve got a squad of very good players, a few results have gone against us which makes it hard to express yourself.

“The last couple of games have shown that we’re improving and points add up as the season goes on.

“The old saying is if you can’t win a game don’t lose it and we made sure we didn’t.”
