Olowu enjoying game time

29 October 2021

Joseph Olowu spoke to the media ahead of the trip to Charlton Athletic this weekend.

The 21-year-old has started Rovers’ last two Sky Bet League One games at left back and is enjoying doing a job for the team.

On his performances:

“It’s been interesting playing a new role, but I like to think that I’m capable of adapting and playing in different positions.

“From being the age of 13 onwards I’ve worked on playing off my left side and now it comes natural to me.

“I’d never played there before the Cheltenham game but I feel I’ve done a good job there.”

On having a positive influence:

“I’ve tried to bring a lot of energy to the group then tried to take my chance when it came along.

“Waiting for an opportunity is part of football and I knew I just had to be ready.

“Naturally I’m a bubbly kind of person, I like to have a laugh and a joke to keep spirits high.”

On facing Charlton:

“It’s a difficult place to go and they will make it physical, so we have to play our own game.

“We have to be able to match them but also stamp our authority and try to come away with a positive result.

“We have good home form but we know we need to be more balanced and earn results on the road.”
