Rovers’ U18s will play their final EFL Youth Cup game this weekend vs Oldham Athletic.
Gary McSheffrey’s team are already out of the competition having lost to Bolton Wanderers and Mansfield Town already. The U18s boss has not ruled out including U16s in his squad as a result.
He said: “It’s a good opportunity for five or six U16s to get into our squad against Oldham for some valuable game time.”
Oldham are on a run of three wins from five games in their league. They recently beat Walsall U18s 3-2.
The game will take place behind closed doors at Cantley Park. Kick-off 11am on October 9.
