Matt Smith spoke to the media ahead of the game against Cheltenham Town in Sky Bet League One this weekend.
The young midfielder says his loan from Arsenal has been a good learning experience so far, despite not picking up as many points as he would have liked.
On the dressing room staying positive:
“Scoring goals has been a problem and that is probably an issue with our confidence when we get the ball in front of goal.
“We’ve got to trust the work we’re doing and we all know what the manager wants from us.
“Of course it’s not ideal but it is the situation we’re in and we have to fight to get out of it.
“We’re a close group so we’ll stick together, and try to keep the spirits up going into every game.”
On focusing on the upcoming games:
“We need a result or two over the next few days and that could be a turning point for us.
“It’s all experience for me as a young player, I’m learning every day on how to deal with different things.
“The manager has been good with us and the messages are still the same, he knows the quality we have in the group and eventually things will turn.”
