Wellens hoping for more home comforts

26 October 2021

Richie Wellens spoke to the media ahead of Tuesday’s game against Cambridge United in Sky Bet League One.

Rovers are looking to make it back to back home wins after the 3-2 victory over Cheltenham Town last time out.

On backing up a good result:

“The goals we scored have given everybody confidence because it was a result of the brand of football we want to play.

“Football is all about scoring goals at key times and it’s something we have to do more of.

“I thought the combinations in our midfield were very good on Saturday and gave us control of the game.

“The aim for us it to put a run of wins together, we’ve got an opportunity to pick up some points in a short space of time.”

On good home form:

“If we’d have nicked a couple of points away from home our position would be a lot healthier given how good we’ve been at home.

“The performances have matched the results at home, we should probably have had more points there too.”

On Cambridge:

“I know Mark Bonner quite well, he’s on the same pro-licence course as me and he’s got a tremendous opera voice.

“He did a great job getting them promoted last season and I don’t think many people would have tipped them for that.

“They will be looking to solidify their position in the league this year by using the momentum from last season.”
