Wellens on importance of home form

21 October 2021

Richie Wellens spoke to the media ahead of the game against Cheltenham Town this weekend.

The game at the Keepmoat Stadium is the first of two home games in a matter of days for Rovers.

On the importance of picking up points at home:

“I think in football we all know it is a results based business, and we know we need to pick up points in our next two games.

“Our performances in stages against MK Dons, Wycombe Wanderers and Gillingham have been good, but we’ve only won one of those games.

“Patience always wears thin when you’re not winning but we know it can change very quickly.

“In the first half at Gillingham we didn’t look like a team low on confidence, we just didn’t take the chances we had.”

On his respect for opposite number Michael Duff:

“They are a club that has been on the up for a couple of years, and have a clear identity in the way they want to play.

“Michael Duff has done a really good job, they’ve had to adapt but I really like the work being done there.”
