Hiwula: More to come from Rovers

26 September 2021

Jordy Hiwula was disappointed his first goal for Rovers didn’t lead to three points as they fell to a narrow defeat to Plymouth Argyle.

Goals from Luke Jephcott and Conor Grant – both from the penalty spot – saw the home side come from behind to take the win.

On the performance:

“I thought we did well up until about 65 minutes – after that we just got a bit nervous I don’t know if it’s because we’d taken the lead.

“It was a solid away performance up until then.

“We need to build on the performance in the first hour of the game and take that into Tuesday night.

“Defeat is hard to take especially when it’s in the last minute and it’s a penalty, but we’ve got a good group of lads here and we’ll just keep working.”

On creating chances:

“We dominated the ball for large parts of the game, and we created a lot of chances – that’s probably the most chances we’ve created in a game.

“We probably should have scored a couple more.

“The front three is effective. We’re all quite different so I think it’s a good balance and there’s a couple of lads on the bench as well who are pushing us.”

On his first goal for Rovers:

“When I saw the ball come across, I just thought I'd take my first touch towards the keeper and then put it around him.

“For me, I will keep working hard and try to get into the right positions and hopefully more goals will come.

“I’m happy to get off the mark and now I want more.”
