23 September 2021

Trevor Kettle will be the referee in charge for Rovers’ next league game away to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

Kettle last took charge of Rovers almost a year to the day on September 26 - a 4-1 home victory against Bristol Rovers. During that game he handed out five yellow cards, two for Rovers and three for the visitors.

Interestingly, his last Plymouth Argyle game was also at home to Bristol Rovers. This headed in a 2-0 home victory. Kettle handed out three yellow cards to the Pilgrims while Bristol Rovers received none.

Kettle handed out a red card in his last game - the recipient was Stevenage centre back Terence Vancooten who received used his hands to clear a ball off the line.

Hailing from Leicester, the referee has officiated more 500 matches across UEFA, Premier League and EFL competitions.

On Saturday, he will be assisted by Michael Begley and Steven Plane. Alex James will be the fourth official.
