Rovers join with Her Game Too to say NO to sexism in football

15 September 2021

Rovers have joined with Her Game Too - a group which aims to raise awareness of sexism and tackle sexist abuse within the game – to say NO to sexism in football.

The Her Game Too campaign was launched on Emirates FA Cup final day in May 2021 to widespread support on social media - leading to the hashtag #HerGameToo trending on Twitter in the build-up to the cup final. The launch video for the campaign gained more than one million views.

Since the campaign's launch, #HerGameToo has surveyed more than 400 female football fans to build a wider picture of the experiences they have faced when attending games.

The Rovers For All campaign is clear – discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated at the club and we will now work with Her Game Too and the newly-launched Doncaster Rovers Women’s Supporters Club to ensure that the Keepmoat Stadium is a safe and welcoming environment for women.

Eve Ralph, one of the Her Game Too co-founders said: “Her Game Too are delighted to have Doncaster Rovers onboard as supporters of our campaign.

“We are really looking forward to working together, continuing to ensure the game is enjoyable, safe and inclusive for present and future fans with the support of this fantastic, progressive club.”

Chief operating officer Shaun Lockwood added: “Our Rovers for All message is a clear one: discriminatory behaviour is not welcome here or anywhere in football. By joining with Her Game Too and by working with the new women’s supporters group we can ensure that as a club we are best serving our female supporters and ensuring that they feel as safe as anyone attending matches at the Keepmoat Stadium.

“As a town, Doncaster has a proud history of women in football with the Belles. We want to ensure that all future female football fans and players feel safe and welcome here so we can continue our town’s legacy of being at the forefront of women in football.”

Supporters are reminded that if they hear or see any discriminatory behaviour in the Keepmoat Stadium, that they should notify the nearest steward. Supporters can also text 07825 012850 with stand, row and seat number to notify the safety team.

The Doncaster Rovers Women's Supporters Group will be meeting for the first time at the Belle Vue Bar on Saturday ahead of Rovers vs Morcambe and are inviting everyone to come and say hello.

Her Game Too can be found on Twitter and Instagram using the @HerGameToo handle, as well as on Facebook as ‘Her Game Too’.
