Tommy Rowe says he and his team mates let the Rovers supporters down after being beaten heavily at Ipswich Town.
A hat-trick from Lee Evans, two strikes from Macauley Bonne and a late goal from George Edmundson made it a painful evening at Portman Road.
He said: “It’s a completely unacceptable performance, we’ve let all of our supporters down.
“It’s embarrassing for us and this is the point where we’ve got to take a long look at ourselves.
“It’s hard to put a finger on why, the feeling isn’t a nice one and I could go on all night with the amount of people we’ve let down.”
Rowe believes the squad have to be stronger mentally when things go against them.
He added: “There was moments in the game when we looked fragile, and you can’t afford to lack bravery at a ground like this.
“We came to get a result but clearly turned up with the wrong mentality, not one player can say they focused on the game-plan and saw it through.”
