Youngster James signs for Rovers Academy U9s after impressing at the Doncaster Rovers Training Centre.

The pathway for promising young footballers in Doncaster has never been clearer as James becomes the latest player to make the move from the Training Centre to the Academy.

James and his U9s team-mates were introduced to the Rovers faithful at the Keepmoat Stadium on September 18 as part of a wider celebration of the Rovers Academy which saw players on the front of the programme, playing a starring role on the pre-match fan park and heavily featured on the Inside Rovers pre-match show.

Head of operations at the Training Centre, Jan Budtz, said: “It’s a very proud moment for everyone at the training centre to see one of our young players make the switch to the Academy.

“The aim of the training centre is two-fold, we want to provide a place where any young person in Doncaster can come and play football and train with some of the best coaches in the borough, but – for the most promising players - we can also provide additional coaching which acts as a direct pathway into the Rovers Academy.

“We’re all very pleased for James and wish him the best of luck in the next step of his journey.”

Academy manager Tony Cook added: “Despite being in its infancy, the Training Centre is already starting to do really good things in the community and act as a pathway for the Academy.

“A lot of our Academy coaches also coach at the Training Centre so the standard of coaching is very high and it allows us to keep an eye on the best young talent.

“James will make an excellent addition to our U9s and we’re looking forward to recruiting more young players via the Training Centre.”
