Wellens looks ahead to Ipswich test

28 September 2021

Richie Wellens spoke to the media ahead of Tuesday night’s trip to Ipswich Town in Sky Bet League One.

Rovers travel to Portman Road looking for their first victory on the road this season.

On his side’s attacking intent:

“I think we look stronger up top, we have more power and movement which means we can create and score goals.

“We look like we’re getting closer to where I want to be, we need to start putting wins on the board and beating teams around us.

“What we’re getting into the group now is an understanding, and the positive for me is the players are really taking on board the detail we give them.”

On Ipswich’s start to the season:

“I’m surprised they haven’t picked up more points because they have a very good manager.

“Ipswich are a club that I played for and they have tremendous support, for whatever reason they are doing it a little bit tough.

“Paul Cook has got his own players in and I’m sure it will come right, we’ve watched three of their games and the turnover of players is massive.

“Whoever comes in for them is of good quality, and have a lot of experience at this level and above.”
