Richie Wellens spoke to the media prior to the Papa John’s Trophy tie against Rotherham United on Tuesday night.
Rovers take on their South Yorkshire neighbours 10 days after the league meeting between the two sides.
On the signing of Joe Dodoo:
“He was coming through when I was a more experienced player at Leicester, he was a tricky winger back then and he’s developed physically since then.
“He’s very powerful and a really good size, he’s more of a central striker now and has some good experience with the clubs he’s been at.
“He’s got the ability to find a home here and score goals, a lot of strikers are looking for that one place to play regularly.”
On the Papa John’s Trophy:
“The break came at a good time for different reasons, we have players recovering from injuries who needed extra days, and others needed it as a rest.
“We need to make sure now that everybody is fresh and fit for the upcoming games.
“It’s a good chance for some players to get minutes, it’s an opportunity to get to Wembley which doesn’t come around too often.”
