Lead Foundation Phase coach Adam Pilgrim has introduced a Futsal programme that sees Rovers compete against South Yorkshire neighbours every week.
Futsal is a 5-a-side football game that is played indoors on hard floor. Because of the environment, it provides an opportunity for the young players to boost their fitness levels while improving their technical ability in close quarters.
Adam said: "I'm really pleased that we have been able to introduce Futsal across the age groups, it has allowed us to give the boys extra variety to their games programme, and we are certainly beginning to see some benefits from this.
"We're looking forward to digging deeper with Futsal next season, providing opportunities for more specific training sessions along with a regular games programme and competitive tournaments.
"We feel all of this will be of huge benefit to the young players' long term development, and help them develop the tools to play the Rovers way."
