Knoyle: 'We just need to fine tune a few things' ahead of Shrewsbury trip

17 April 2022

Kyle Knoyle says it is all about fine tuning recent performances from Rovers in order to get a vital victory at Shrewsbury Town on Monday.

Rovers must win at Shrewsbury to have any realistic hope of remaining in Sky Bet League One and Knoyle feels that performances have been trending in the right direction for them to do so.

On the test posed by Shrewsbury:

“Shrewsbury are a side that have nothing to play for but will still be a threat.

“We’ll have a good look at them on Sunday and prepare right to make sure we go there ready to win on Monday.

“Really we have to focus on what we’re doing because we’ve been playing a lot better in the last few and creating a lot of chances.

“We just need to fine tune a few things and get results from these performances.”

On facing sides with nothing to play for:

“You can look at it in different ways. Not having anything to play for can give them more freedom or it could be the other way where they’re ready for the end of the season.

“We’ve got to focus on ourselves and take advantage of anything the opposition throw at us.”

On the new dynamic in the Rovers midfield:

“Clayts [Adam Clayton] and Bozzy [John Bostock] have both done really well since coming in and Smudge [Matt Smith] has been playing higher up.

“They’ve definitely added that steel, grit and experience as well as more control into games.

“They’ve added to the team. We’ve missed that experience but that’s in the past and we’ve just got to make the most of them being in there now and use it in the next three games the best we can.”

On players beginning to find the net again:

“It’s great and it can give real confidence to the boys.

“You see with the chances that we’re creating that they’re going to get their own individual chances and hopefully put them away.

“Them getting goals, hopefully they can take it into the next few and get as many as we can to finish these games off.”
