McSheffrey disappointed to come away from Wycombe without any points

3 April 2022

Gary McSheffrey was encouraged by the performance from his side, despite defeat at Wycombe Wanderers.

Two goals from the hosts secured them the victory despite Rovers having several chances throughout the game.

On the loss to Wycombe:

“The result was disappointing, but the performance level was there. The lads were creative on the ball.

“We created a lot of chances and David Stockdale’s had a great game in goal to keep us out.

“The lads are gutted with the result, and we deserved a lot more out of that game.

“We dominated the game and we have been hit on the counter and punished. Our performance level was good and I’ve reiterated to the boys that it was the type of performance I expect every week.

“When we got on the ball we looked brave and creative. We just need to add more killer instinct to our game moving forward.”

On the fans’ support and tribute to Richard Bailey:

“We thank the fans for making the long journey and the minutes applause was a nice touch to Richard.

“We are thinking of Richard’s family at this time and if they need anything from us we will always be here for them.”
