Rovers are proud to celebrate Football Welcomes month this April.
Football Welcomes is a programme that aims to support refugees through sport. For people fleeing conflict and persecution, football plays a role in helping people settle into a new country and culture.
It allows them to make friends, learn a new language and get a better understanding of their new local area.
Club Doncaster Foundation have been hosting Football Welcome sessions, in partnership with Amnesty UK, at the Eco-Power Stadium.
The Foundation’s health and wellbeing manager Lauren Cuttell said: “We are proud to have hosted Football Welcomes sessions for the last three years with resounding success with people.
“Our numbers continue to grow on a weekly basis, with the sessions providing an opportunity for asylum seekers to improve their mental and physical wellbeing by socialising while playing football.”
As part of the month, Rovers will have a dedicated Football Welcomes fixture against Bolton Wanderers on Good Friday.
