Agard: the goal meant a lot

7 August 2022

Kieran Agard says scoring the winner against Sutton United was a special moment.

The 32-year-old came off the bench at the Eco-Power Stadium to secure Rovers all three points with his first goal for the club in the 94th minute.

On the goal: "It was a fantastic feeling to score, the lads did well to stay in the game and to get the winner at the end was a big moment for us.

“I always feel like if I’m on the pitch I will get chances, thankfully George (Miller) has knocked one down and when it came to me I just tried to keep it low.

“My two children and my wife were in the crowd so it was a really good feeling to score and go over to them to celebrate.

“As a striker you pride yourself on goals, it’s what I was brought here to do so now for me that puts a tough few months behind me.”

On getting back to full fitness: “It’s been a difficult few months after my injury, I had to remain professional and make sure that I worked hard on my recovery to come back stronger.

“We’ve got a good team here so I knew I had to be patient, when I got the shout to come on I knew I had to take the chance.”
