Squad update ahead of AFC Wimbledon trip

11 August 2022

Several players recovering from injury joined in with first team training on Thursday as they stepped up their preparations.

Here is what manager Gary McSheffrey told the media as he gave an update on those that have been sidelined.

JOSEPH OLOWU

“He’s got a scan booked in this afternoon [Thursday] so we’ll just await that.

“His strength is down in it so the physio thinks it’s serious enough to have a scan on it. We’ll wait for the results on it.

On whether he is doubtful to play this weekend: “I’d imagine so.”

TOMMY ROWE & GEORGE MILLER

“Rowey has trained fully today. George has been on the grass with the fitness coach. Hopefully they come through tomorrow and should be okay.

“George got a bit of an impact injury on the outside of his knee. It swelled up a little bit. More of a contact one. He’ll be okay.”

TOM ANDERSON

“Tom trained with the group today and he looked himself, which is good.

“It’s another step in the right direction for him.

“Tom’s an experienced player so sometimes you can chuck players in and their experience in the game will see them through.

“We’ve got decisions and options in that department.”

LONG-TERM RETURNEES

“Ben Close joined in with the squad today and looked good, which is good news.

“Luke Molyneux trained with the lads, which is more good news.

“Jon Taylor and Aidan Barlow are doing their rehab, stepping it up daily with the fitness coach and the physio.”
