Anthony Backhouse will be the man in the middle when Rovers take on Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup first round on Tuesday night.
The Cumbria-based official has been on the EFL list of referees since the start of the 2017/18 campaign, and has refereed Rovers on eight occasions, the most recent being the home game against Gillingham in March.
Backhouse refereed 38 games in total last season, handing out 129 yellow cards and four reds. He hasbeen in charge of back-to-back Sky Bet League One games in the opening weeks of the current campaign.
He will be assisted by Graeme Fyvie and Oliver Bickle at the Eco-Power Stadium, Jacob Miles is the fourth official.
