Benjamin Speedie has been appointed referee for Rovers’ clash with Carlisle United on January 1.
The Merseyside official has taken charge of 19 matches this term, with the majority coming in Sky Bet League One. He has issued 79 yellow cards and three red across those games.
This will be his second outing of the season refereeing a Rovers game having taken charge of the 2-1 win over Sutton United in August.
He previously handled Rovers matches on three other occasions over the last three seasons. His four matches so far have ended in two wins and two defeats for Rovers.
Speedie will be assisted by Alan Clayton and Peter Gooch on Sunday while Darren Handley has been assigned fourth official duties.
