Faulkner joins Worksop Town on loan

16 December 2022

Rovers defender Bobby Faulkner has joined Worksop Town on a month’s loan.

The 18-year-old will pick up senior experience with the Tigers, who are currently eight points clear at the top of the Northern Premier League East Division.

Faulkner has made 13 appearances for Rovers this season, including seven starts, but has found game time limited in recent weeks following the return from injury of senior players.

He will continue to train with Rovers throughout the week, alongside turning out for the Tigers.

Head of football operations James Coppinger said: “We feel it will be beneficial for Bobby to head out and play games during a busy period of the season, for a team that is flying at the moment,

“We will continue to develop him as he trains with us throughout the week but he will also be picking up valuable minutes to ensure he stays match fit.

“Bobby found himself fast-tracked at the start of the season due to various circumstances and he performed really well. At the moment, he does not have the experience of playing in the style that Danny Schofield is implementing but he is working hard to improve in the areas.

“He is desperate to play games and has spoken to the head coach about that. Players have returned from injury and are ahead of him at the moment so his time on the pitch for us is going to be limited. He was really pleased with the idea of going out on loan and I’m sure he’ll make the most of it.”

The loan will see him link up with Rovers team mate Tavonga Kuleya who has been at Sandy Lane for the last month.

Kuleya’s loan has now been extended until the end of the season.
