Rovers edged a seven-goal thriller to beat Rochdale 4-3 at the Eco-Power Stadium.
Goals from Charlie Seaman and Ben Close had put Danny Schofield's side two goals up with nine minutes gone, before a strike from Devante Rodney and an own goal from Ro-Shaun Williams drew Rochdale level.
Rovers went in at the break in front after Harrison Biggins curled a superb free-kick past Richard O'Donnell to restore the lead.
Rochdale responded again and were back on terms as Tyrese Sinclair headed beyond Jonathan Mitchell on 77 minutes.
Rovers were not to be denied though and it was Tom Anderson, wearing the captain's armband on the night, who fired beyond O'Donnell with nine minutes to go to round off 2022 with three points in Sky Bet League Two.
