Miller set for 200th career appearance

2 December 2022

George Miller says he is already looking forward to the next milestone as he prepares to make the 200th appearance of his career on Friday night.

The Rovers No.9 heads into the game against former club Walsall looking to mark the occasion with an important three points.

On reaching 200 games:

“I’m really proud to get to 200, my youth team manager once told me that you’re not a footballer until you’ve played 100 games so I’ve managed to double that.

“As a player you just want to play as often as you can, and I’ve managed to keep myself fit over the years to do just that.

“You always remember key points when you reach certain milestones. My first career goal is one that stands out and moving to Doncaster is right up there as well.”

On going up against his old side:

“When I was at Walsall it was the first time I felt settled because I knew I was going to be there for a full season which helped me massively.

“Matt Taylor brought me in and he knew I needed to play football, Michael Flynn came in later on in the season and was quality with me.

“Rovers have given me a home since then and when you feel more settled you can focus on the most important thing which is playing football.”

On the search for consistency:

“I’d have to say in terms of league position we’re under achieving given the quality we have in the squad, we want to be higher up the table but there is time to fix that.

“We need more performances like the one at Grimsby, a lot of teams at the top end have put good runs together and that is what we’re looking for.

“It’s important that we get a good result on Friday night, not only for myself against my former club but for the team as a whole.”
