Danny Schofield felt his side showed good character to beat Rochdale 4-3 in Sky Bet League Two.
Rovers were pegged back twice before Tom Anderson struck the winner nine minutes from time at the Eco-Power Stadium.
On not giving up:
“Every game is high on emotion for coaches and players, ultimately that is why we’re in the game so we’re happy to come away with three points.
“We kept the messages similar and clear for the players, we always want to start games with intensity and create chances looking for that first goal.
“We got in control early and dropped a little bit deeper when we would have liked to be more aggressive, but the lads were fantastic in showing the character to get the three points.”
On the resolve within the group to end 2022 with a win:
“Rochdale had their fair share of the ball in the second half but we controlled the spaces well.
“Football is very demanding and it’s not for everyone, that’s why there aren’t many people who make it as a professional so you have to be a strong character to survive.
“We try and drive each other on as much as possible and I think you could see that with the way we kept going to get the three points.”
