Schofield: we've worked well in the break

1 December 2022

Danny Schofield says Rovers have taken advantage of a longer break between games to work on the finer details of the way he wants his side to play.

Schofield’s side will have gone 13 days without a game by the time they face Walsall on Friday night, and he believes that has been beneficial.

On the work done on the training ground:

“We’re still looking to improve our consistency and trying to be better whether we win, lose or draw. It's  down to me to implement that on a regular basis.

“The average age of our squad is quite young so the players are still adapting in terms of how they deal with setbacks but that comes with experience.

“We try to provide an environment where the players know there will be bumps in the road but also that they have that safe space here to express themselves within our framework.

“They’re doing something that most people would dream of so they have to embrace it, while also realising how important it is to win games of football.”

On facing Walsall:

“It’s going to be a challenge for us, they’re a very good team who do the fundamentals well and have a distinct style of play.

"Michael Flynn is a good up and coming coach who has a good reputation in the game, so it’s one that will test us but we’re prepared for it.”
