Rovers went 2-0 to the Dons, but a second half brace from captain Tommy Rowe salvaged a point on the road for Gary McSheffrey's men.
The boys in red and white did come close to taking all three points with Ben Jackson having a chance cleared off the line by Lee Brown.
In the dying moments of the game, goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell pulled off a sensational save to keep the point intact.
