Knoyle says Rovers must stay positive

15 February 2022

Kyle Knoyle spoke to the media ahead of a trip to Lincoln City in midweek.

The right-back believes Rovers needs to remain positive and find the same kind of away performance that got them wins at MK Dons and Sunderland.

On reacting better to setbacks:

“We need to be stronger mentally to find a way to come back from going behind. It’s happened too often this season.

“We need to find a way to put little setbacks to the back of our mind and react positively to it so we can avoid it again in the future.

“I think we’ve got to communicate better as a team, especially when we can feel the momentum of the game shifting.

“People will expect me to say this, but you have to keep a positive mindset going into each game, each week and each training session.  You know that what you put in, you will get out.”

On reaching potential:

“It’s disappointing that we haven’t been able to build on the win at Sunderland, but that performance does show what the team is capable of. That potential needs to be realised sooner rather than later.

“The squad has shown that we are able to put in a performance like that, we just need to be more consistent.

“Consistency is something we’ve really lacked this season.”

On the challenge of Lincoln City:

“Lincoln like to play out from the back. They’re quite a creative team and we know the threats that they pose.

“We need to go into the game and cause them problems while being more solid at the back.”
