Olowu: we have to keep fighting

9 February 2022

Joseph Olowu says Rovers will continue to fight after a narrow defeat to Ipswich Town in Sky Bet League One.

The defender took the captain's armband after Tommy Rowe was withdrawn through injury at half-time.

On the Ipswich defeat:

“It was not the best first-half from ourselves. In the second-half we wanted to put Ipswich under more pressure which helped change the direction of the game.

“Credit to Ipswich for their performance, but from our perspective, we should not have let them dictate play.

“The result shows we cannot take our foot off the gas. We wanted to back up the Sunderland result but now we have to focus on Portsmouth."

On giving everything for Rovers:

“It would have been nice to close the gap with a result against Ipswich but we can't get too down about this result because there are a lot of games to come.

“I want to contribute as much as possible and have an influence on the team moving forward.

“I keep gaining experience with each game that passes. Every training session and game I try to be better by taking on advice from my coaches and team mates.”
