Rovers visit Thorne ahead of Accrington game

21 February 2022

Rovers visited Thorne ahead of the Sky Bet League One match against Accrington Stanley on February 22.

Louis Jones, accompanied by goalkeeping coaches Steve Hernandez and Nick Buxton, put on a training session for the young people of Thorne as Rovers begin the All Rover Doncaster campaign in DN8.

The aim of All Rover Doncaster is to engage the club back with communities and businesses following the global pandemic.

In addition to Rovers hosting a training session, Louis did a virtual Q&A with pupils from his old primary school, Thorne Brooke.

Rovers' goalkeeping coach Steve Hernandez said: "It was good to get out and see the kids of Thorne really engaged and taking a keen interest in wanting to better themselves as goalkeepers.

"Each and every participant came away with a smile on their face and that makes it such a rewarding experience for us as coaches."

Louis Jones added: “It’s been a couple of years since we have been able to get out into the community so it is really good to get back out.

“It was nice to virtually visit my old school and see the new generation of kids there and answer all of their questions.”

All participants from the goalkeeping masterclass and school Q&A have been invited to the Rovers vs Accrington Stanley game on Tuesday February 22 and have recieved a free Purple Vouchers book.
