Smith aiming for back-to-back wins

8 February 2022

Rovers midfielder Matt Smith wants to make it back-to-back wins with the visit of Ipswich Town to the Eco-Power Stadium.

Rovers come into the game against the Tractor Boys on the back of an encouraging 2-1 victory away at promotion-hopefuls Sunderland.

On the confidence the team has:

“At Sunderland we put in a good performance with no fear across the pitch. That is something we want to carry into the Ipswich game.

“We have a good footballing team. We’re going into games believing we can get a result, regardless of the opposition.

“We want to make it back-to-back wins because that will do the world of good for our confidence.

“Performances against most of the top half teams have been really encouraging, we just sometimes have not got the results to go with it.”

On setting the record straight against Ipswich:

“We owe it to fans for the game against Ipswich earlier in the season. We all have fire in our bellies to rectify that.

“This is a big game to show that we can get back-to-back wins against two quality oppositions.”

On his personal development:

“Arsenal are happy I am getting game time and experience. There was never any questions about where I would be going for the second half of the season. I am happy to be at Rovers and so are Arsenal.

“I am in a good place with my form.

“I want to add some goals and assists to my game next. Hopefully, this will come in line with my confidence rising.”
