Adam Pilgrim has been appointed Rovers Academy lead Foundation Phase coach.

Adam has previously coached within Rovers’ Foundation Phase and left on good terms to coach elsewhere at a football league club. His coaching development away from Rovers has been tracked enviously and it helped that the youth coach excelled during the rigorous interview process.

He arrives at the Eco-Power Stadium as replacement to Michael Pedley who left in 2021 to move to Premier League side Newcastle United.

Adam said: “It’s an amazing feeling to be back. This is a job I have wanted to do for a while so when the opportunity came up, I could not refuse it.

“To know that the club wanted you in the post is a great feeling and fills you with confidence when you come in on your first day knowing you have the backing and support by the club.

“My job is to make sure all the players and coaches are happy within the U9-U12s age group and make sure we have the talent coming in and helping it progress.”

Academy manager Tony Cook said: “Adam is an exceptional professional who we know having worked closely with him at the club before. When the position became available we knew he would fit the right mould for this job and we are exciting to be working together again.

“The Foundation Phase is an integral part to the start of any players journey. We want to make their training sessions enjoyable and educational. With Adam in charge we know he will harness this key value.

“Our aim is to make sure most of our players in the future come right from the Foundation Phase up to a scholarship. Much like Liam Ravenhill, Louis Jones, and Lirak Hasani have done.”
