Martin: I feel part of the team already

17 January 2022

Josh Martin says he can’t wait to get started after signing on loan until the end of the season.

The Norwich City youngster arrived at Cantley Park on Monday morning after spending the first part of the season on loan at MK Dons.

“I’m very happy to be here and be part of the set-up and team. I’m looking forward to rest of the season,” Martin said.

“When I was told about the interest from my parent club and agent, I felt it was an opportunity I couldn’t really turn down.

“As a team, we want to stay in the league. On a personal note, I want to get as much game time as possible and develop, but the main thing is keeping Rovers in the league.”

The 20-year-old took part in training on Monday as Gary McSheffrey’s team prepare for a midweek trip to Cambridge United, and Martin said that he’s been made to feel welcome by the players.

“The lads here are brilliant,” he added.

“I’ve introduced myself and they’ve brought me in really well. I feel part of the team already.

“There are a lot of players who are similar age to me so that’s nice to have because you can bond well.”

McSheffrey’s Rovers have created more chances and scored more goals and Martin is looking to add to that with his direct style.

“The aim is to bring goals and assists and more of an attacking threat,” he said.

“I like to take the ball forward, and hopefully help the team score as many goals as we can.

“I’m really excited to make my debut, training was good and I’m really looking forward to playing for the team.”
