Gary McSheffrey spoke to the media ahead of this weekend’s trip to MK Dons in Sky Bet League One.
Rovers beat the Dons 2-1 at the Eco-Power Stadium earlier in the campaign and will be hoping for a similar upset on Saturday.
On reaction to Cambridge defeat:
“There is always that initial disappointment and rightly so. It needs to hurt to lose – you don’t want players who accept losing.
“We’ve watched the game back and we’ve been showing them all the good things they have done as well as the couple of things we need to improve on. The lads have come out and trained well and now we’re looking forward to MK Dons on Saturday.
“There have been lots of positives from the last two performances. The work rate has been to the level required and if we keep building on that, I feel something will turn soon.”
On MK Dons:
“We’ll be up for the game. I’m sure the players will be hoping to impress and get a result that people aren’t expecting from us.
“It was a good win at home against MK Dons. They play good football and are full of energy. The front players are lively and clever so we’re going to have to be at it and really organised.
“We have to take confidence from how we’ve been doing in possession recently."
On injuries:
“We haven’t got anyone back for this weekend.
“Ro-Shaun Williams is probably ten days away and Jordy Hiwula needs a bit more time. Ben Close is a couple of weeks away as are Dan Gardner and John Bostock.”
