Gary McSheffrey spoke to the media as his Rovers side prepare to host Wigan Athletic at the Eco-Power Stadium on Saturday.
It was a disappointing afternoon against Fleetwood Town last time out and McSheffrey says the team have been working hard all week.
On work on the training ground:
“We’ve gone through a few things in terms of what we expect from the players.
“We’ve simplified things in terms of the non-negotiables. The non-negotiables are running, sprinting and distances covered.
“We’ve put some really good work in this week.
“We need to get up to the level of fitness, sprints and repeated sprints that are required to win games.”
On the challenge of Wigan Athletic:
“You prepare right. You get the team into the best possible shape they can be in and you try to be compact, resilient, and hard to beat and hope you can get something on counterattacks and set pieces.
“Wigan have got experience in all departments. They keep the ball ticking over and have real energy and quality out wide, so they’ve got threats all over the pitch.
“Everything is stacked against us, but we don’t fear it. We embrace them coming to our home stadium at the weekend.”
