Mipo Odubeko believes there’s more to come from him after he made his first senior start.
The 19-year-old joined on loan from West Ham during the week and impressed on his first outing in red and white hoops.
On the match against Plymouth Argyle:
“I feel like we started well and were on the front foot.
“Obviously we scored first, but even before we scored, we had created chances. Realistically we could have put the game to bed early on and if we’d done that, and defended well, we would have won the game.
“We dropped off a bit too early when we didn’t need to and that invited pressure.
“We’re frustrated that we didn’t take the opportunities. You can’t have that many chances in a game and not take them, but if you look at the positive at least we’ve created the chances.”
On his own performance:
“I felt good.
“In the first half, I felt like I’d started sharply and me and big Joe [Dodoo] upfront started well and ran hard.
“The second half was a bit more difficult but I’ll be ready to go again on Tuesday.”
On messages from the manager:
“Once I spoke to Gary on the phone, I liked immediately what he was saying and wanted to come here.
“He showed so much confidence in me and for me personally, I feel like I can do a lot with that.
“I’m really thankful to Gary for the confidence he’s given over the past three days. He’s shown belief that I can go on the pitch, do what I do and run hard. I’ll work my socks off for him.
“I’m with a great bunch of players here and a great manager and I’m happy so that’s the main thing for me.”
On the fans:
“The fans were amazing throughout, even when we were 3-1 down at the end.
“At half time, we could really hear them pushing us on and we all knew that no matter what we had to come out in the second half and give it our all for the fans.”
