Christopher Sarginson has been appointed as referee for Tuesday’s Sky Bet League One match between Rovers and Cambridge United at the Abbey Stadium.
Sarginson hasn’t taken charge of a Rovers match since November 2019 when he oversaw an Emirates FA Cup replay between Rovers and AFC Wimbledon at the Eco-Power Stadium.
He was due to referee when Rovers hosted Bolton Wanderers in February 2020 but was replaced late on by James Oldham.
So far this season, the Staffordshire-based man has overseen 22 matches handing out 71 yellow cards and one red.
On Tuesday, he will be assisted by Nicholas Dunn and Adrian Tranter. The fourth official will be Declan Ford.
