Seaman calls for unity

9 January 2022

Charlie Seaman has called for unity after defeat to Fleetwood Town on Saturday.

The 22-year-old came off the bench for the final 18 minutes of the game to make his first appearance since his injury in early October 2021.

The right back turned winger had a positive impact and came close to scoring an equaliser in the dying moments of the game.

On the team's disappointment with the defeat:

“We are disappointed to lose because we wanted to put on a good performance for the fans. Our focus turns to Wigan Athletic and we have to stick together and keep working hard.

“Football’s a tough game and it is even harder when you are bottom of the league so we need all the support we can get.

“I have been watching from the side lines so it has been particularly hard for me. We have to give the fans something to be happy about.”

On what he can add to the team with his return:

“Being out for three months has been tough but I have tried to help the lads as much as I can. I’ve put a lot of effort into improving myself.

“I don’t think people have seen the best of me yet, they have seen glimpses of me building to my potential. My injury came at a bad time and now I have to make sure I bounce back from it.

“Hopefully I can bring fresh impetus to the team with my return. Another loss is disappointing, but we must move forward and take it game-by-game. Hard work is key.”
