Andrews enjoying his time at Rovers

20 July 2022

Josh Andrews is looking forward to the season ahead with Rovers after an impressive pre-season campaign so far.

The 20-year-old came on as a substitute in the 66th minute against the Millers on Tuesday night and was straight into the action by creating and having chances.

He said: “Our friendly against Rotherham was a good test against a good side.

“We played some nice stuff and for large parts of the game we were the better team.

“We had lots of chances and forced their goalkeeper into a lot of good saves.

“It was a great workout for us and put some more minutes into our legs heading into the new season.”

The Birmingham City loanee is confident ahead of Rovers’ upcoming Sky Bet League Two campaign.

He added: “We are optimistic for the season ahead, and we have the right to be after beating Huddersfield, who were one game away from the Premier League. We held Rotherham to a 2-2 draw and could have got more.

“You can see the quality that the side has and we really want to kick on and we are all excited for the season to start.

“We want to get the season underway so we can start climbing the table and hopefully be right near the top.

“Already we have a close-knit group with lots of different personalities that bounce off each other well. We have our seasoned veterans in Tommy Rowe and Adam Clayton but there’s also some good young players mixed in too. I am sure we will only get stronger as a group as the season progresses.”
